Summary
On the morning of September 11, 2001, Shane Hollander attends a breakfast meeting inside the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
Hundreds of miles away, Ilya watches the news, sees the tragedy and realizes that the man he loves, secretly, desperately, and without ever having said the words aloud, is somewhere inside.
With the phones down, the airports closed, and no one but Shane’s parents and Ilya's agent knowing what they are to each other, Ilya begins the impossible journey to New York.

Summary
Joining the MLH had been his sole goal since losing his mother. He needed to get away from his father, his stepmother, and his brother, and hockey had provided him with the chance to escape.
It had still been overwhelming. He had to learn the language, had to adapt to the different culture, and deal with the pressure and expectations that came with being the number one draft pick. Don't get him wrong — Ilya loved every second of it, thrived in the fame and spot light. He quickly established his outrageous image, and while his critics gasped in shock whenever he opened his mouth, he had the skills to shut them up.
Ilya Rozanov became a star, a legend.
And nobody would suspect his pain, his heart aching for his mother's love, his father's approval, his brother's support.

Summary
Ilya Rozanov has a "tiny car accident" (his words). Shane Hollander has a full-scale, system-shutdown panic attack about it. Meanwhile, a horrified Hayden is praying for someone to throw him in a lake and tell him that this is all just a big joke, or maybe for a meteor strike; he is really not picky. J.J., on the other hand, is trying to bleach the image of his sweet captain making out with Ilya fucking Rozanov from his brain.
It's a very normal day for the Montreal Voyageurs.

Summary
Ilya knows that no one loves the same version of a person; his Shane is different to Yuna’s Shane, who is different to David’s Shane, who is different to J.J., or Rose, or Hayden’s Shane. And while Ilya knows he’d fall in love with every single version, he’s happy he gets this one. Happy he gets the Shane who lets himself be trusting, and vulnerable, and honest.
It makes Ilya wish he could have loved Shane earlier - makes him wish he could have known him longer. But he’s just glad he gets to do it now, here, like this.
(Or, four times people are surprised by Shane’s clinginess, and one time they completely expect it.)

“Oh, I’m not sure you’re supposed to smoke here,” Hollander said as Ilya grabbed his hand. He had forgotten he was even smoking.
“Okay,” replied Ilya. With his other hand, he quickly pulled the cigarette from his mouth and let it hang between his fingers. He didn’t let go of Hollander.
“You’re an awesome player to watch,” Hollander’s eyes shifted to their hands.
“Yes,” Ilya said.
There was a silence then, and Hollander withdrew his hand slowly. Ilya’s eyes didn’t leave his cheeks, admiring how his freckles look with a rose tint.
“Anyways, I should-”
“Have you eaten?” Ilya interruptedOR
