“And what if,” Mingyu was babbling now, voice cracking despite himself, “what if someone was willing to choose you every day, loudly, publicly, with their whole chest? And you just—” He swallowed. “—said it was unnecessary?”
Wonwoo didn’t flinch. He only looked at Mingyu as if trying to decipher a language he hadn’t realized they were speaking tonight. That stillness was worse than anger.
Jihoon exhaled sharply and pushed himself to his feet. “Okay,” he said, voice tight in a way that meant he was already done with this. “We’re leaving.”
They swore off commitment, but forgot to mention the heat clause.
