As an amateur student of religion, (y/n) (l/n) was raised to look at the word of God critically. Not to question her faith, but rather to gain a better understanding of it. This is the way she and her father have lived after settling in Eastern Europe during the Northern Crusades. But when the dawn of the Polish-Lithuanian-Teutonic War destroys her home and nearly leaves her dead, she soon finds herself in the presence of the Teutonic Knights at Malbork Fortress. It is here that she is placed in the care of Gillen Beilschmidt; the quiet and reserved doctor of the mighty fortress.
As the two become better acquainted, they both start to question their own religious beliefs, beginning to wonder what it is their God would have them do. As tensions and new-found feelings arise, the two are forced to ask themselves this question; would it be better to forever part ways, or risk it all to be together?
