His gaze shifts from the bedside table to the unknown woman beside him. He’s about to shake her awake and demand some answers when she shifts, stretching, and a soft, content noise escapes her throat as she arches her back. Long hair falls across her cheeks, obscuring her from view, and then Kiara Carrera’s sleepy, smiling face appears as the curls shift beneath her hand. Rafe is transfixed in fascination and mild horror at the sight of her.
“Morning,” she says, arching her body once more in a stretch as she settles her head deeper into the pillow.
He stares at her.
“Hey – you okay?” Her voice is hesitant. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
