Summary
Ava had had everything she ever wanted. At one point in her life, it had seemed like every puzzle piece had fell into place by itself. That the sun had finally risen above the trenches. That she had been privy to some sort of revelation that gave her life meaning.
If she gave it any thought, those puzzle pieces didn’t fall into place on their own, and the sun didn’t suddenly appear over the horizon. She had met Beatrice. Beatrice who had been everything she had needed 10 years ago; had been her everything for 6 of them. Beatrice who had given her life meaning, simply by being alive. Who had loved her the same way she herself had never loved anyone else. Like how she still loved Beatrice even if they were no more.
OR Ava and Bea broke up years ago, and now they're back for Mary and Shannon's wedding.

Summary
Beatrice's parents almost never visited. At least, they only saved it for special occasions. Her parents drove her crazy from afar, with loveless telephone calls and snide remarks about being unmarried... and you know, other 'lifestyle choices'.
It was a spur of the moment thing, a lapse of judgement when Beatrice invited them to meet her girlfriend. A girlfriend that as of ever, had never existed.
OR Ava offers to be Beatrice's girlfriend for a weekend get-away to Boston.

Summary
She posted the picture from her seat at the terminal in Buenos Aires, waiting for her flight to JFK, on her Instagram along with several other photos both she and Matias had taken the past years. It was only the sixth or seventh post she had made in the last two and a half years seeing as there were other things to occupy oneself with when being in Antarctica.
When she turned her phone off of airplane mode as they arrived in New York, a notification popped up on her screen ‘beatriceDaughtler’ liked your post’, and Ava suddenly didn’t feel as nauseous as she had felt those weeks before when thinking about her homecoming. The nervousness had been slowly but surely making its way into giddiness at the prospect of seeing her Beatrice again.

Ava did her PhD in Antarctica, and now she's coming back.
