Summary
In her mind, Shinobu Kochou was two different people, two images overlapping in a way that blurred both and made her feel dizzy, if not a little ill.
There was the Shinobu Kochou before Kanae Kochou's death. The determined, stern girl who'd brought home a slave girl with her sister. Who always seemed dissatisfied and wasn't afraid to show it on her face. The sharp-tongued girl who'd called Hiroyuki dumb for pulling out an arrow and risk bleeding out.
And then there was the Shinobu Kochou after Kanae Kochou's death. The Shinobu Kochou whose eyes were cold and whose smile, most of the time, were hollow. Who would spew deadly poison with a sweet smile. The one who would always smile even though she's angry or frustrated.
To her Shinobu Kochou was a precocious and frighteningly charming person. The one who would get away with anything, not because of her pure muscle strength and fighting capabilities, but because of her quick wits. If Hiroyuki were to describe her it'll be like that of a picture full of small errors, the kind you could only pick out by searching the image from every angle, and then after a long observation, a few always slipped by.

Not a single note of pain crosses her heart at the blunt disregard, especially not when Agott has admitted she will never, ever be rude to Coco again—this, undeniably, is an attempt to safeguard her rather than chase her away out of pure malice. Right now, just about anyone would be able to suss out that this apprentice is sick, without a shadow of a doubt.
“Absolutely not,” Coco speaks plainly, immediately moving to perch on the edge of the bed that she can see is vacant of Agott’s sprawled body. “You're sick, aren't you? No way am I leaving you by yourself.”
