    As a series of tears rolls down his face, Eddie’s heart thumps loudly in his chest as he hears the sound of a car driving past his house and coming into his driveway. His heart skips a beat when the keys to his front door make a sound, and someone comes in. There’s some noise coming from the living room, which Eddie’s entire body somehow knows, deep down. Shoes are taken off, something - a bag, a coat?- is dropped to the floor and then it’s the sounds of the most familiar footsteps that Eddie hears coming from the living room to his bedroom door. 

    A moment passes before the door finally opens. Eddie, in bed, doesn’t move an inch. Instead, he waits and tries his best to even out his breathing.

    “I had a second set of keys,” Buck’s voice is heavy in the silence of the room.

    Eddie’s entire body is now vibrating from his side of the bed. He opens his eyes, finding the wall next to his bed, and he says the name only once. “Buck.”
