“What are you doing?” He speaks very softly despite his inane hollering from moments earlier, so much so that it’s almost hard to hear him.
“I think you know very well what I’m doing, which is why you are trying to stop me,” she says. “So I would appreciate it very much if you would just walk away and leave me to it. Goodbye.”
The man seems determined to test her patience. “Oh, no, uh, I don’t think you should do—that.” He twitches forward a step, as if he’s worried that she’s going to fall. As if he could catch her somehow, if she did.
Or: Yelena is on a ledge, both metaphorically and physically. Good thing someone else is there, too.

Summary
She opens her mouth to respond, but the pain flares so badly that she chokes, folding in on herself. Bob is there in an instant, dropping his book on the couch and rushing to her in one smooth motion. His arms wrap around her, and she tenses, flinching instinctively. He notices, because of course he does, and hurt flashes across his face for a brief moment.
As much as she wishes she didn’t, she remembers the feeling of his hand around her throat. A rare comfort that her condition granted her was the ability to escape—and he had taken that away. She isn’t angry at him for it, but she would be lying if she said it doesn’t scare her, another person having complete control over her molecules like that—
Wait.
Or: Ava is sick. Luckily, the New Avengers have a live-in god that can help.

So, she’s currently being held somewhere, and can’t remember how she got there. Wherever there is, which she’ll probably find out soon, because villains love running their mouths and giving things away. She really isn’t in much of a position to judge, though, considering that now long-dead O.X.E. employee that she practically gave her whole life story to all those months ago while he was tied up and at her mercy. Damn. What is it they say? Walk a mile in the shoes of someone else and all that? At least she isn’t gagged like he was.
Or: Yelena has been kidnapped, and they want to know the truth about Bob. She'll do whatever it takes to protect him, no matter what it means for her.

“Reynolds,” she declared. “Lindy Reynolds.”
Yelena’s gaze snapped immediately to Bob. He looked frozen in place, wide-eyed, like a deer caught in headlights—jaw half-open, hands twitching at his sides. Her stomach sank. Oh, he better have a good explanation for this. Because this woman did not just stroll in here and claim to be his wife.

He stares at his trembling hands. “I don’t—I’m not—” his voice breaks, “—I don’t want to hurt anyone.” His gaze rises to meet hers, and there’s tears shining in the dark ocean blue of them. “Can you help me?” It’s a strangled, desperate whisper that claws its way out of his throat.
She drops to her knees beside him, reaching out with steady hands. Then, his palms are in hers, his fingers warm and dry against her own, and he’s holding on so tightly, she gets the feeling he thinks she’s the only thing tying him to the earth.
Just who are you, Bob? She thinks. And who am I, to you?
or; Yelena can't stop dreaming of a smile she doesn't recognize in any of the faces she passes. But with the problems she's got, a haunting smile is the least of her worries. Or it would be, until she meets an amnesic stranger who couldn't seem to care less if he lives or dies.
As their lives become inextricably intertwined, she finds herself drawn into a past she didn’t even know belonged to her. And some history, once stirred, refuses to stay buried.
