For the first time in years, the world didn't feel fake or far away. Noelle felt present. Alive. Cool, rough scales pressed against her coarse fur, keeping her grounded to reality; an unfamiliar sensation, but a welcome one. She'd forgotten how it felt, to feel alive; that is, until she felt Susie's rough, chapped lips press against her own, uncertain yet brimming with love in every touch.

Susie hadn't slept all night. Today was the day that she had been waiting for. Her date with the girl of her dreams, but something felt off. Her heartbeat was louder than usual. Then more felt wrong, Kris didn't show up to the dark world, Ralsei said to leave them be, Noelle seemed...Strangely happy today. Susie's heart raced faster as she approached the lake, and then Noelle tasked her with retrieving Kris. She counted her steps, hung out with Kris until she let them go, hoping the two would figure out their problems. Until her heart sunk, and the bodies floated at the end of the lake.
