You don't mind animals.
You might even say you're fond of them. They're cute, non-judgemental and tend to be pretty smart. Every trait that you can't readily find in the people around you. So it was no real surprise that you adopted a couple of companions into your life to spend your time with outside of work, even if that wasn't your intention at first.
Now, just imagine your reaction when you find out that the pets that live in your house are people. People from a completely different time period.
Maybe you should have stuck with your robotic pets instead of trying live ones.
