Psychics must Bond with Humans or Ghouls to get their life energy source. If the Bonded psychic dies, then the human or ghoul they bonded with dies in the same moment... But if the Bonded human or ghoul dies first, the Psychic must find another energy source to Bond with within 7 days or die. But sadly Bonding can be forced and the psychic will ended being a pet or slave rather then a companion... Something HIDE DOESN'T WANT!!!
When Kaneki and Hide were children, Kaneki unknowing gets Bonded by Hide who was on his 7th day. When Kaneki discovers Hide's pyrokinesis. He still accepts him as a friend. When Kaneki has become a ghoul, Hide accepts him just the same. Now the One-Eyed-Ghoul and the Pyromaniac Psychic must protect each other from the Aogiri and CCG.
