Erwin had not felt like a Commander that night, or even a soldier. He simply felt like a man, who would bid his friends good night and hand them their snow-soaked jackets and scarves as they staggered back to their own quarters, collapse into bed with a contented sigh as Levi quietly joined him under the covers, and gaze at the ceiling lazily as the room faded around him. Routinely, Levi licked his fingers and snuffed out the candle, tucked himself into Erwin’s side, and murmured to him aimlessly until they both fell asleep, the heat of his body and the familiar smell of him a pleasant comfort.

The weekend before finals, it finally starts to snow. The smooth glass panels of Levi’s windowpanes are frosted with delicate crystals of ice when Erwin trudges through the slush towards the shop on Monday, but it’s as snug and toasty inside as it always is. It smells like mint and gingerbread today; Levi must have brought out some special sweets for the holiday season. He raises a brow when he sees him enter, cracking a slight smile as Erwin tries and fails to discreetly brush the snowflakes out of his hair. Somehow, his demeanor feels more mischievous than usual.
“What’ll it be today, professor?” Levi leans over the counter, head tilted playfully.

Fushiguro knows he’s not the easiest person to befriend- it takes a while for him to warm up to people, to share things about himself, or to talk about the shitshow that is his family, but Itadori does not seem to give a single, flying fuck. He walks into Fushiguro’s life with the strength and ease of someone that just believes they belong.
And Fushiguro lets him, because he is, as Kugisaki very accurately put it, a complete and utter homosexual disaster.

Barbatos’s eyes go round. “Raw?” he says, astonished. “My word.” He pauses, studying the qingxin in deep contemplation. Then he pops a petal into his mouth and immediately gags.
Xiao concludes then and there that the Anemo Archon is an idiot. “I warned you,” he says, utterly unsympathetic.
“That’s true!” Barbatos laughs. He runs a thumb over the bloom, but (thankfully) doesn’t try to eat any more. “I think it’ll grow on me,” he muses, then smiles, as if he’s said something clever.

To Xiao, Barbatos was the embodiment of everything he was not: happy, free, fully confident in who he was. His music made the shadows in Xiao’s head retreat. They were all about living life to the fullest, having hope when the world was turned against you, and having fun (something that was almost entirely foreign to Xiao).
And now he was going to have to give away all his albums, delete Barbatos’ songs off his phone, and never listen to his music again. Just looking at the albums lined up on the shelf made Xiao cringe. He’d thought that if he ever did get a chance to meet his idol, it would be in a controlled space. He would have said something normal, like, Your music means a lot to me. Then he would’ve shaken Barbatos’ hand, gotten an autograph, and lived out the rest of his life in peace.
Xiao’s idol had watched him punch a guy in the stomach.
Since Zhongli's early retirement, Xiao's life has been aimless. But a chance encounter sets him on a new and uncharted path.
