'He still had that toothy smile. It had yet to be directed at him, but it was unmistakable from all angles. He tries to think back to the first time he saw it. A spiky-haired seven-year-old, wide-eyed and grinning as he stared at Pierre’s brother’s old kart. Maybe that's where his own love for karting started. There was something about seeing the wonder on the other boy’s face that made Pierre see the kart in a whole new light. This thing must be something special, he thought, for someone to stare at it in such admiration.'
Pierre moves to Alpine. In doing so he is forced to reflect on his past relationship with Esteban whilst forging a new one.
