Summary
In the wake of Peter Parker erasing himself from the memories of his friends and family, not to mention the entire universe, he's doing as well as can be expected. Three years later, he's attending ESU, trying to work three jobs alongside getting two degrees, and still going out as Spider-Man. He's fine, really. Everything is just fine. That is until a run-in with the law and a DNA test shatter the carefully constructed facade that Peter had made his life.

“Your blood matches a sample the FBI has on file from a kidnapping case.” Agent Carisi opens the thicker file. “A four-year-old boy taken while on vacation with his father about twenty years ago.”
Peter’s breathing speeds up.
“Authorities took fingerprint and DNA samples from the boy’s room, and at the father’s behest, we continue to test them against any that are placed within any system we have access to.”
A piece of paper with lab results lays atop the file. It gets picked up and placed on the table.

Summary
His hands rake his hair. His eyes sting, and his head pounds mercilessly with that familiar pressure. He just needs to breathe.
It hurts, but it’s okay. If Henderson needs someone to blame, he can be that person. He’s good at that, has done it before, knows how. Hell, he’ll be whatever his kid needs him to be, so long as his kid still needs him. So long as Henderson stays.

Summary
There. That tangle of thick vines… she recognised it. That was right by where Steve had been attacked earlier. She moved quickly over to it, spotting the three dead bats clumped together, black blood spreading from their bodies.
If that was where Steve had been attacked, that meant that the gate was just a few feet behind her. Nancy whipped around, stepping blindly forwards, eyes raking over the ground ahead of her.
The gate was nowhere to be seen.
They were too late.
“Oh shit.”

When Vecna opens his gates by killing his victims in s4, they don’t stay open forever, trapping the older teens inside the upside down indefinitely.

Summary
Carter follows behind him, feigning quiet composure, but doing a poor job at concealing the whirlwind of anxiety Peter knows is rippling just beneath the surface. Once again, he’s reminded of a much younger version of the man before him, one who bled the need for his mentor’s approval after each and every transgression, driven frantic by the need to make up, to convince Peter that he had a handle on things.
Peter hates to see a flicker of that returning now, under circumstances that pose no easy fix.
