An expanse of blackness, above, below, all sides, but Thrawn can see himself. He sees Bridger’s scarred hand tugging him upright, and the white lines arcing around them in a finely-woven latticework. There’s no immediate significance to their placement. No purpose anywhere, even as he scans in earnest for signs, patterns, indications.
The panic has sunk below his sternum, but not dissipated.
His feet planted, Thrawn observes. Breathing steadied, mind licked with flames.
“Curious,” he says. “Was rendering me unconscious mandatory or optional?”
“One: cop-out response. Two: I’ll let you figure that out.”
