Neuvillette winced at the sound of Wriothesley and Sedene’s fierce arguing in the hallway. He loathed the distance he had put between himself and the Duke, but knew it was necessary. His strict instructions to keep Wriothesley out of his office were for the warden’s own good, no matter how much it hurt the Chief Justice to stay away.
“Fine! But I expect an explanation. If I don’t get one, then I’ll just keep coming back!” The Duke’s parting shot seemed to strike the Iudex’s heart.
“Please don’t,” he whispered once the doors of the Palais Mermonia slammed shut.
Please do, his traitorous heart echoed.
Or, Neuvillette saves Wriothesley from the brink of death by claiming him as his mate. Certain that Wriothesley will hate him for it, he seals himself away in the Palais Mermonia and promises to let the Duke live as normal a life as possible without getting in the way of his happiness.

Tighnari laughed through tears, "Hell yea you should've, it's lonely without you."

The fox placed his head in the nape of Cyno's neck, "It is to me."

Tighnari gulped when he caught him bending his upper body and leaning close to one of the candles, lips parting to let out the air to extinguish the tiny, dancing flame, the sparks around creating a little, cozy atmosphere. And yet his focus solely lied on Cyno’s full lips, adorned with orange-red light thanks to the flame before it was gone.
The desire to kiss Cyno bloomed further in his chest, to the point it drove him mad, and archons, he had to restrain himself, or else he truly will stand up, grab him and just press his lips against his.
Tighnari wildly shook his head, driving his thoughts away. He couldn’t do it, so get it together, you stupid, stupid fox!

“You promised,” he mumbled, Cyno chuckled. He knelt back onto the bed, accepting Tighnari´s plea and kissing him more. “It won´t be long,” Cyno whispered. “I´ll devour you when I get back.”
No- Tighnari had waited long enough. He´d been good and chary enough. He wanted to be selfish. And the more he kissed Cyno, the more the general´s resolve wavered in turn as if he thought the exact same thing.
“Cyno,” Tighnari breathed. “I just- want you to touch me. Don´t make me wait anymore.”
He could feel how Cyno´s eyelashes tangled into his own, how his mouth claimed every one of Tighnari´s breaths, how it almost claimed the words carried on them.
“How do you want to be touched?” Cyno asked with a low voice, and Tighnari finally opened his eyes. He smiled playfully.
“Touch me … like you always yearned for.”
