Daeron knew his place in the sea, with the rest of the plains, while the divine overlooked them both, him and Valarr and the rest. Aerion was the exception to this; he was the divine, holding a chalice filled with offered wine. Sweet in his smile, generous with his gifts. Daeron had wondered about that too: if Aerion was ever aware, or if he was oblivious to the effects he had around him—to the tides and the directions of the sun alone, where everyone else knelt so low that he could not see them.
