Summary
After discovering four mysterious Titan serums hidden inside Grisha Yeager’s abandoned cottage near Wall Maria, Levi Ackerman, Eren Yeager, and the Survey Corps attempt to return home through the forest before nightfall.
They never make it out.
Surrounded by an overwhelming Titan horde, the squad is torn apart as Eren’s Titan form is slowly overwhelmed trying to protect everyone alone. With soldiers dying around him and Eren moments away from being devoured, Levi discovers a note hidden among Grisha’s serums suggesting that multiple injections may strengthen a Titan transformation.
Desperate and out of options, Levi injects himself with two Titan serums.
What emerges from the lightning is not humanity’s strongest soldier anymore.
