“You’ve got something bouncin’ around in that big ol’ noggin of yours. I know it.”
“Oh yea? How?”
“I just do,” Exer laughs, giving David’s hand a quick squeeze.
He resists the urge to pull back, defensiveness seeping into his tone without his permission.
“How could you possibly know that? You were, like, half asleep with your eyes closed.”
Exer sighs and open his eyes slowly, fiddling with David’s fingers gently.
“I don’t know, Day. I’ve known you a long time and I just had a feeling, is all. And now I’m kinda getting the sense that I was right.”He considers brushing it off, blaming it on his ankle hurting or just being tired.
But there’s something about the way the stars and the moon illuminate the tent. Something about the peaceful sounds of the forest filling the air around them that makes David feel okay enough to be honest. He sighs.“Just, today. Everything. I don’t know — this whole trip. I’m, like,” he pauses, tugging at his hair with his free hand. “All I can think about is my fucking dad.”

“Have you ever had your hair short? Like shaved?” Yuuji reaches up and takes one of the curling strands between his fingers, feeling how soft it is even after the long day they’ve had. Megumi turns his head away after a moment, jerking his head lightly to free the strand from Yuuji’s grasp.
Yuuji chuckles softly, eyes shifting to meet Megumi’s, who’s looking down at him with a furrowed brow. He takes the quiet moment to study Megumi’s face. Sharp eyes with prominent lashes, green irises that darken in the gray around them.
“The way your hair dries really is nice, Fushiguro. It’s a little distracting sometimes. I know people tease, but I don’t think I’d want it any other way.”

Summary
Susie cares about Noelle, stupid and weird as that may seem. She barely talks to Noelle, but she cares a lot. Noelle is the only person here who’s been nice to her, seen her as something beyond a simpleton and a bully. She wants Noelle to be happy.
So, since she obviously can't convince Noelle to dump Kris's ass and find literally anyone else, she may as well get Kris to step the fuck up.
Susie has come under the impression that Kris and Noelle are dating.

As the vines constrict around him, Ralsei wriggles desperately. “Kris, I think there’s some kind of poison in these thorns! I don’t know what it is, but Susie’s been inflicted!”
Kris takes a hesitant step backwards, and Susie takes one forward. Cutting Ralsei free should be their current priority, and yet Susie is idly staring right at them, gaze sharp enough to pierce armor.
“Hey,” Susie breathes, suddenly so close. “Is it just me, or did you get way cuter?”
