The ward was meant to help them. Make them recover.
It hadn't felt like that for Chan, not when he'd been stuck within the pristine white walls for years on end. Not when the nurses started to ignore him — when he became too much of a hassle. Not when he'd been stuck for four years until his first acquaintance arrived, or the fact it'd been seven years when his final friend arrived.
He grew used to being alone, but he knew since the day he started caring for each new patient that came in, that it would change. Especially on his fourth year when a young boy was placed in his room, and for the years after that where everyone new slowly gravitated towards the now loudest group within the facility.
