“What?” Trinity snaps. The word is sharp around the edges, her voice shrill, and she hates it.
Baran doesn’t rear back at Trinity’s tone. She barely even blinks. “What is going on?”

Summary
Trinity destroyed everything. Gifts, journals, her handful of other pathetic friendships. The only survivor was a DVD in an unmarked clear case that always ended up jammed between her bedframe and the wall, whether she was a teen in her parents’ house or in her apartment in her mid twenties. In the recording, two girls giggle and do flips and give high-fives at their first gymnastics meet forever.
(Trinity does not care. She is not giving Victoria special attention. It’s just that her skill as a doctor relies on particularly keen instincts and perception. Dots connect whether she wants them to or not. And while these particular dots leave a pit in her stomach, they connect anyway.)

Summary
If Trinity thought her blood pressure had spiked when she saw the knife, the feeling that she gets when she sees Izzy in the doorway to the room Trinity had left is akin to the worst case of hypertension she's ever seen. She wouldn't be surprised if the veins in her eyes are bursting, sending ribbons of red spilling out across the whites.
Alex is beginning to speak again, his voice shaking but his tone firm and unrelenting. "I have to go—"
Trinity reaches out instinctively, unable to think about anything other than keeping Izzy out of his eyeline. "Alex! Don't—"
She doesn't see him pull out the knife. But a split second after he moves there's a sharp pain in her left arm, blood immediately welling up out of a slash across it. She presses onto it with her other hand, shying away from him in pain, her basic animal brain telling her to protect the injury.
This is the wrong move.
or: it turns out that, for trinity at least, getting stabbed makes you rethink a few things. among these things is included your ex-situationship-turned-tentative-work-friend-turned-awkward-avoidanceship (yeah, it's a mouthful. maybe quicker to just call her garcia)

Summary
Trinity's laying on the couch with a beer on the floor beside her, and it's July 15th when they both have a shift in the morning. Just a boring fucking night. Trinity's not in the mood for TV or a movie - even if it's better without Huck's commentary - so she finds herself living her best life, laying on her couch trying not to spill her beer as she browses TikTok.
Fucking pathetic.
She's just skimming through her FYP when she sees a woman sitting on a hospital bed, bags under her eyes. She's talking about something but Santos doesn't quite clock what. She's tired, and her brain only registers that it's a pretty younger woman, and she automatically moves to flick down to the next recommended brainrot.
As her finger is halfway through flicking down the screen though, she recognizes that voice. And she recognizes that face.
"No fucking way."
(Trinity Santos finds Victoria Javadi's Tiktok page, and goes into a bit of a spiral)

Summary
trinity has, frustratingly, been kind of a revelation for victoria: she's known for a long time now that she's queer, that gender and sexuality are too fluid and interesting and unimportant for her to limit herself. but she'd always been so much younger than her peers in school and so different from those her age that exploring that — experiencing it — for herself, in her own life, had always been beyond her grasp. but now there's trinity, with her stupid carabiner and her cargo pants and brush of eyeliner, the thrifted t-shirts she likes to cut into crops just above her hips. it's a little intoxicating, the way she refuses to confine herself: she doesn't shave and she prefers boxers; she likes mascara and, as she'd told victoria once a little drunk after she'd schooled both her and dennis in pool, loves her boobs. she has delicate tattoos and musky cologne.
it's intoxicating, most of the time, to watch this person who is so resistant to let people in — so scared — be exactly who she is.
