Aemond's hand was cupping Jace's face. He didn't even remember having put it there. "You're too pretty. Better than half the women in King's Landing." Aemond ran a tough finger across the boy's lower lip. The boy gasped for breath, and his lips parted. One of Aemond's gloved fingers sank inside. "Your mother wouldn't start a war over a lost tooth, would she? Or a dislocated shoulder?" His other fingers brushed over the boy's temple. "Even an eye probably wouldn't do it. We've been there before. Or maybe –"

Summary
What had surprised Jace at the outset was how readily Aemond had agreed to his request to tutor him. At the time, Jace had taken it as a rare show of goodwill. Only later, after enduring several of his lessons, did he see the truth of it: his uncle had not agreed out of kindness, but because it offered him a stage upon which to flaunt his own mastery and expose Jace’s shortcomings again and again.
