When Thane Rowan Tremaine is injured defending Whiterun from yet another dragon attack, Jarl Balgruuf decides to offer him a greater reward than another trifle from the armory. During a visit to his favorite court mage, Rowan is offered the honorarium: the privilege of marrying the most eminent Nord of the Jarl's court. Unfortunately, Rowan is still suffering from a major head injury and comes to an interesting conclusion about who the most eminent Nord of the Jarl's court actually is. Feelings ensue.

“You are very, um…. pink,” Bernie said, a little nervous all of a sudden. He had a hungry look in his eyes that she knew would only be satiated by one thing.
“And you have been an absolute menace all day, Bernadetta.”
She just smiled. “I have no idea what you mean!”
He lunged for her bag, and pulled out the doll, which was looking a little scruffy now. The seam between its legs was wearing away, and Bernie had been avoiding sewing it up for fear of causing Hubert severe pain. The non-fun kind.
He held it up in the air triumphantly. “Now you cannot torture me any longer.”
“You underestimate me,” Bernadetta said mischievously. “Climb on the bed, please. Your torture is only just beginning!”
“Hm. And if I refuse?”
“Then- then you'll be in big trouble, sweetie.”

Ferdinand was very wrong about the dolls. Very wrong! Bernadetta had never, ever made dolls of anyone she knew and certainly didn't do anything creepy with them! But now that she started to think about it a bit more she realized it actually wasn't such a bad idea as all that.
She really didn't have any enemies, per se. No one she really hated. Some people she avoided because they made her nervous, but that was not exactly unusual for her. Every one of her friends had their good points. All except one, who she knew almost nothing about because he terrified her so much she never even bothered to get to know him.
Maybe making a doll of him would help.

Summary
Ferdinand Von Aegir did not spend too much time at the opera or reading novels as a child. If his thoughts now ever wander to being tied up by a strikingly handsome adversary (which they do not), it is only because he needs to be prepared with a good strategy, should that ever come to pass. Also, avoiding Hubert is much more difficult at Garreg Mach than it had been in Enbarr.
Hubert prides himself on his powers of intimidation and detection, and Ferdinand is obviously hiding something. It is Hubert's duty to his future Emperor to put a stop to it.
OR: Ferdinand thinks they're in a gothic novel and Hubert thinks they're in a spy thriller. They're both wrong. It's a romantic comedy.
