“Oh, shit, it’s you again,” Oscar moaned, pressing his forehead to the door. He wanted to burst into laughter or strangle on his shoelaces right on the spot.
In the doorway, wearing an unbuttoned chef jacket, stood Max — god bless him — Verstappen.
or Pastry chef Oscar applies to a restaurant only to find his old rival reigning the kitchen as chef de cuisine. A ‘maxcar-meets-the-bear’ au where nothing lasts, but the past always comes back around.

“Your brand of doing it would have taken others out with you, if not yourself.”
Lando did not expect Piastri's face to light up. “ I didn't take anyone out, least of all myself. I think I deserve some credit for that.”
“It was still dangerous,” Lando scowled.
Piastri smiled. “The whole time, I was in the mindset of, ‘either I pull this off or we all fucking die’, and it worked wonders in making sure I didn’t botch it.”
“That’s such an insane fucking mindset that I don’t even know where to start,” Lando groaned, shaking his head. “I think you learn from Max too much.”
“I do,” Piastri agreed, stepping closer and crowding into Lando’s space. It didn't help that Piastri was taller than him. “Max has this special brand of crazy that I admire.”
“What, so you decided to copy his insanity, too?”
“I need it to survive in this seat,” Piastri said, voice dropping low.

Dennis stared at him. His antennae were doing something complicated again, the tips curling in a way Robby had learned to associate with deep, complicated emotion. “You’re going to carry me.”
“Yes.”
“Like – like a – ”
“Like a backpack,” Robby said firmly. “Or a child. Or a very large, very attached moth. Which you are. I don’t care. We’re doing it.”
or dennis latches onto a candle jar like a sticky note, and demonstrates exactly why the phrase “like a moth to a flame” is not merely a poetic suggestion but a biological imperative

Whitaker goes to visit Emily Werner, the tib-fib replantation, and runs into Doctor Park. Maybe he's exhausted, maybe he's lost his mind, but "fight or flight" is an understatement when he calls the Shark an asshole.
