“What are we doing here that’s so important?”
Gohan looks at him sideways, a smile tugging at his lips. “Nothing.”
Piccolo frowns. “Then why did you need me to come?”
“I never said I did.” Gohan puts his forefinger to his chin, mock-thoughtful. “I’m pretty sure what I said was, ‘Since I’m training with you again, I want you to do something for me, too.’ You’re the one who assumed it was something important.” His eyes are sparkling with mirth. He must’ve learned this cheekiness from Videl, because Piccolo sure as hell didn’t teach it to him.
(Or: Gohan decides that if he's going to start training with Piccolo again, Piccolo is going to learn to relax with him.)

Gohan tilts his head and reaches up, almost without thinking, to wrap his hand around one of Piccolo’s antennae. “Do they get cold?”
The skin there is very soft, like petals against his palm, and he can’t resist running the pad of his thumb up the length of it. He’s so entranced it takes him a moment to notice that Piccolo has gone rigid beneath him, the breath catching in his chest and the faintest hint of a blush purpling his cheeks. “Not cold,” he gets out. “Sensitive.”

Gohan jumps slightly in embarrassment, watching his sensei for a long moment before slowly daring to bring up what's got him so fretful. "Have you ever liked anyone, Piccolo?"
The Namekian huffs in amusement. "I like you, kid." He supposes there are other people that might qualify as friends, but the only one he ever thinks of without having to really put his mind to it is Gohan.
