Summary
“Did you sprain something saying that?” Jamie is pretty sure he wanked to this exact fantasy, like, ten years ago. He feels heat on his face, but somehow it isn’t a big deal because Roy looks kind of pink around the edges, too. “Roy. Roy, did you practise that? Did you write it down? Roy, mate, did you write a speech about me?”
Or: Jamie’s call-up, and the aftermath.

Summary
“For the record,” Beard cuts in, his feet on the desk and hat pulled over his eyes. “I still think this is a terrible idea.”
If Beard is going against Ted on something, Roy’s really fucking worried now.
“What is it?” he asks in trepidation, and Ted taps at the hockey poster he’s got pinned up on the wall.
“Well now, back home, our friends in the NHL have this little tradition that I think might just be the solution to our problems. Sometimes, when a rookie is signed to a team, especially a younger player, someone who maybe needs a guiding hand, a bit of looking out for, they’ll move in with the captain, right into his home, when they first start out. Obviously Jamie isn’t new new, but he definitely needs a guiding hand. So how about it?”
Roy stares in disbelief. “Fuck off. This is a joke, right?”
Ted just stares back at him without saying a word.
“He is,” Beard adds, sounding very tired, “not joking.”

Summary
He’s not moving, not shying away or trying to get Roy off him, making no movement to break the grip on the front of his shirt, but he’s shaking. There’s a determined frown on his face, his hands are held with a tense deliberation at his sides, but Jamie is shaking.
Jamie is shaking, pretty fucking hard, as he repeats himself, saying, “I know you’re not gonna hurt me.”
Which is the moment that Roy has the sudden and horrifying thought that, fuck, he doesn’t believe that, does he, and he lets go like he’s been burnt.
[or, in this 3x02 episode tag, we're gonna reckon with the shouting and the hyperbolic threats aspect of jamie and roy's dynamic, trust, and how roy might feel a little differently about his own actions after things evolve]

Summary
Jamie's behaviour changes dramatically after they start doing the one-on-one training sessions. He used to be such a brash little bitch when he and Roy played together, and since his return to Richmond he's been more of a whiny little bitch, but now he's hardly acting like a little bitch at all. Roy doesn't know what to do with it.
"Is it just me, or has Tartt been almost tolerable lately?" he asks one day in the coaches' office. "Fucking weird."
No one says anything for a minute, and Roy has mentally moved on to planning next week's drills when Beard says, "Roy, everything that kid has ever done was to get your attention."
