    Summary

If you asked Wei Wuxian when his house became the safe place for all of A-Yuan’s friends, Wei Wuxian wouldn’t be able to tell you. Perhaps, he might muse, it was in A-Yuan’s seventh grade year, the same night Jingyi was first hit by his father. That night, Jingyi had run to Wei Wuxian’s house, the only place he could think to go after sprinting from his house, holding his cheek. Wei Wuxian had held the boy all night, drying his tears and soothing his distress. From then on, it seemed like one of A-Yuan’s friends were always at his home.

Regardless of when, it had long since been established as the one place anyone could go for a breather. Their presence was never questioned, and fresh clothes were always shoved into their arms as they were directed to the bathroom. Snacks that Wei Wuxian knew he would never, ever put into his mouth were put on the shopping list, and the kids were always fed a warm meal and as many snacks as they wanted. Shopping days were on Wednesdays, so the house was usually busiest on Thursdays.

    Summary

Fate was a fickle thing. It did not appreciate being taunted or twisted. It liked to do as it pleased without pesky humans-- or other creatures-- interfering with its fun. It took kindly to fae folk and their playful nature, and it appreciate a reaper’s dedication to fate’s decisions. It did not, however, take kindly to malicious humans trying to bend Fate’s will for themselves. It was like the wind that caressed flushed cheeks with soft fingers, enjoying the blush under its graze. It was like the wind that demolished and lacerated buildings in a swift, torrential anger, hurt by the actions around it.

Vampires (if wise, if old) had long since stopped trying to play with Fate. Nothing ever changed. It was better to ask and plead, for Fate was a vain, obsessive creature and loved to watch mighty creatures put aside their conceit and humble themselves. Fate would talk to some, so long as Fate liked them. It was rare, so very rare, but not quite a myth-- tales of Fate coming to creatures and speaking with them, asking their thoughts on decision. Very few were so lucky. Very few were liked. And that was a very, very dangerous game.

Or; Fate adores Bang Chan and gives him a family.

Seungmin didn’t think he’d fall in love with Changbin like this, captain and crew serenading the sea into peacefulness. Seungmin didn’t think he’d fall in love with Changbin like this, firelight and moonlight conflicting forces as they lit up Changbin’s skin, a flicker of gentle white and ferocious reds. Seungmin didn’t think he’d fall in love with Changbin like this, surrounded by the crew he’d come to enjoy, surrounded by sea and night and all the dangers the sea and moon brought with them into a full moon on the longest night of the year.

    Summary

Jaemin’s pupils were dilated, eyes blown wide, as his entire body shook and shied away from Donghyuck’s voice like a frightened animal. Jaemin pulled himself out of Donghyuck’s grip, racing towards the exit to push his feet into the nearest set of shoes and then out the door. Donghyuck hurried out after him, left shoe half way on as he hopped out the door, following Jaemin’s shadow rushing down the back stairwell.

    Alternatively;
Jaemin has anxiety, and Donghyuck just wants to help. A car ride and getting high ensues.

    Summary

There is something quite funny about vampires. See, vampires mate for life, those bloodthirsty beasts, as though they were Antarctic penguins and not a loose cannon. (There is something quite funny about humans-- they think anything that is not them is a threat, a loose cannon.)

There is something even funnier about the fates that formed soulmates. The fates didn’t care for propriety or politics or social acceptance. The fates bonded, took a part of you, aching and gaping, when a soulmate was rejected.

There is something a bit funny, a bit sad, about the current political situation. As much as one may fight against the notion of “loose cannons” as a title for vampires, there was corruption. There had been corruption long before the War, and there was still corruption now, after the War. Regulations were in place for Donator/Donatee relations, but no enforcers cared-- they were paid if they enforced, they were paid better if they didn’t.

Perhaps, the corruption wasn’t even a bit funny and far more than a bit sad. But, the story need not stay so sad.

    Summary

He found Donghyuck on the fire escape, taking a long drag from a half-gone cigarette. A pack was open next to him, and half of it was gone, more than a pack of cigarette butts littering the surrounding area. Donghyuck doesn’t look at him, merely looks up at the dark expanse above and blows out a long breath of smoke and pain. The lack of stars has always been depressing to Donghyuck, but he thought that maybe, just maybe, the smoke from the cigarette would be able to mimic the Milky Way streaking across the sky enough to bring him comfort, even if only momentarily.

“What are you doing out here, Na?” Donghyuck finally sighed, voice hoarse from disuse and cigarette smoke. Jaemin didn’t answer immediately, and Donghyuck turned away, taking another long drag and holding it in until it was too painful to stomach.

    Summary

Yuta’s greeting was immediate when Taeyong entered the kitchen, sweeping the older into a tight hug and peppering his face in kisses that caused Taeyong to giggle. When Yuta finally put him down with a lingering kiss to his lips, Taeyong raised his eyebrows.
“And what, Mr. Nakamoto, was that for?” he inquired, putting on his best ‘unimpressed’ face (not that it was hard, he was basically dating two giant, clingy toddlers--not that he minded).
Yuta hummed happily. “To let you know that I love you dearly and appreciate everything you do for us.”
Taeyong pursed his lips. “What did you do?” he deadpanned, crossing his arms.
“Nothing!” Yuta squawked indignantly. “Honest!” Taeyong raised his eyebrows higher and Yuta denied doing anything again, so Taeyong hummed, placing a chaste kiss to the younger’s lips.
    “Where’s Jaehyun?"
Yuta hummed. “He’ll be back in a minute.”
“Vague,” Taeyong noted. “What’s going on?”
“Our Taeyong is so nosy!” Yuta announced loudly, sighing as he fell against the back of the kitchen chair dramatically, causing Jisung to giggle. Taeyong sighed, giving up.

    Summary

He sighed before stripping his jacket and shoes and making his way over to the couch, flopping face-first into the occupant’s squishy tummy.

“Hello to you, too, sweetheart,” Seungcheol laughed, moving his book to the arm of the sofa to mark his place and stroking the man’s hair. “Rough day?” All he got in response were ticklish mumbles. “Jihoon,” he sang, “I can’t understand you. What happened at the studio?”

Jihoon propped himself up on his forearms, glaring--not necessarily at Seungcheol, he just happened to be nearest. “Ailee came in to bring me coffee because I was there overnight working on my music and the fucking manager waltzes in and takes my fucking coffee, drinking half of it while the other half ‘accidentally’ landed in my lap. He’s just mad because I took two extra days to finish the song from last week.”
