Summary
Knight Daniel Howell is one of the most competent fighters in the empire. The emperor gives him the honor of escorting his new concubine to the capital from a smaller kingdom. His life that centers around duty and routine is turned upside down when he meets "the princess" he is going to be protecting on the way to the capital. The princess turns out to be a prince and his ocean blue eyes make it hard for Dan to remain loyal to the empire.

Summary
Deciding not to push his luck and reveal his hand too much, Dan intentionally missed the next shot. He wanted Phil intimidated. He wanted him to be forced to show his skill off a little bit more, floundering to catch up, asking himself what went wrong the same way Dan had been doing all night.
Dan competes in pro pool tournaments, and in many circles, is considered a professional and talented player. Phil is a hustler, whose victims often don’t realize they’re being swindled until it’s too late.

"The more you keep the valve closed, the more chances you have to explode—or, I guess, in your case, to get drunk on an entire bottle of wine and cry alone on our balcony."

Summary
The AU where Phil stopped posting Youtube videos in the summer of 2009, before he ever knew who Dan was. Phil's life heads into a different direction that leads to the stable life he has at 35 years old. Phil is stuck in an unfulfilling relationship with a busy lawyer. Everything changes when Phil unknowingly inserts himself into a rookie lawyer, Dan Howell's, life. The wheels of fate that stopped moving in the summer of 2009 are in motion again and Phil sees what his life should have been like for all of these years.
