Summary
Sometimes, Bilbo finds, not everything goes according to plan.
First an injury and the coming winter delay his leaving Erebor, then word from the Shire leaves him mourning his beloved Bag End. And because getting added to Thorin's council isn't trouble enough, Kili is in love with an elf, Fili may or may not have his eyes on a certain little scribe, everyone seems to think he is a lady hobbit, and Thorin needs to find someone to marry.
Okay. So the last part might not be trouble, exactly, except for the part where it makes Bilbo's rather hopeless attachment even more painful. Or it wouldn't if he hadn't possibly accidentally promised to provide Thorin with an heir... and Dáin just might still be scheming something.
Fortunately, if there's one thing hobbits are good at, it's growing things. And Thorin did promise him a garden.

“Tell me, what sort of music do you listen to?” Thorin asks him, raising an eyebrow. “Do you prefer glam or thrash?”
“I—what? Simon & Garfunkel is my favorite band. I like The Smiths if I’m in a bit of a strop, Bowie if I’m feeling adventurous, I suppose,” Bilbo answers, aware there might be a note of snark coloring his words because, well. He was set up, meant to sound like a fool no matter how he answered, and he does not appreciate rude conversational traps like that. He does not appreciate anything about this situation. He does not appreciate the small, crooked, tight-lipped smile that flashes across Thorin’s face at his response, and he does not appreciate the way it makes his stomach drop.

After his eccentric advisor deliberately botches Bilbo's housing application, he is forced to sublet a room with thirteen metal heads living in a condemned frat. He barely expects to survive the journey, let alone fall in love.

It took a few seconds for Sanji to realize Zoro wasn’t even trying to throw him off.
Looking at him more closely, he could see his breathing was quicker than it should for just a quick spar. Sanji brought a curious hand under his jaw to make him look up.
There was a characteristic red tint to his cheeks, and when Sanji tightened his legs harder against his neck, he got a kind of dazed look on his face, his lips parting slightly.
The damn bastard was getting off on the rough treatment.-------------------------------------------
Zoro’s always liked violence. But when Sanji discovers how that translates in the bedroom, it opens a whole new world of possibilities.

Summary
He's always been a bit weird about pain, he knows that. Knows that he can take more of it than most other men, that he’s proud of how much of it he can take. He’s not ashamed of that; he uses it, takes advantage of the edge it gives him in a fight.
But this, the way he gets when he does this… it’s something else entirely. It makes him feel smaller. Fragile. Breakable, cracked open. Makes him want to be good, to be held, to be wanted in return.
Zoro likes men, he likes pain, and he likes being marked. He gets his fix of all three from sparring with his oblivious straight crewmate Sanji, and that's enough... until it isn't.
