part 1: batman solves a riddle, edward is very touched and wants to do something nice for him - in his own villainous way
part 2: edward helps batman out of a bad situation, and the two have an unexpected heart to heart

A lie, perhaps the biggest one John had ever uttered in his meager four months of existence. He certainly did not feel safe, not enclosed in a seemingly-endless labyrinth that could twist and reshape itself at will, not in England where he could see barren grasslands all the way to the horizon, not in this fucking universe that could have been handpicked by a bored god or—worse yet—chosen at random just for shits and giggles.
No. John did not feel safe one bit.
Even so, Arthur breathed.
I’ll take care of you.
And breathed.
It’ll be okay.

It’ll be fine.
And faded.
