Will looked down at Mike’s hand, still wrapped around his wrist. He forced his heart to slow down.
“Oh,” Mike said, dropping his wrist as if he’d been burned. “Sorry.”
He turned around and hurried down the hallway, almost knocking into people walking in the opposite direction.

Or, the world is ending, and Will has noticed that Mike has been acting weird lately. He spends more time with him, sits closer to him, touches him more often. He’s also unusually protective, and Will can’t put his finger on why, because Mike is straight and dating his sister.

Max went through Will's portal. Will went through Max's portal. They swapped bodies.
Now Will has to pretend to be Max Mayfield, which would be easier if Max wasn't mean to literally everyone. Max has to pretend to be Will Byers, which would be easier if Mike Wheeler didn't have a completely different voice and face and entire personality when he talks to Will. Also, they can hear each other’s thoughts now, which is uncomfortable (to say the least.)
