Izuku comes home to the domestic sight of his boyfriend making him breakfast.
(He pounces.)
“Tell me what you’ve been up to,” Izuku says, his mouth still against Katsuki’s neck, and he presses his fingers down in a slow circle, grinding against his clit with steady pressure. “What did I miss, Kacchan?”
Katsuki’s breathing has gone uneven, his chest rising and falling in shallow gasps that Izuku can feel against his own chest where they’re pressed together. “Are you seriously— fuck— asking me about my day right now?”
“Two months’ worth of days,” Izuku says, and he slides his fingers lower, teasing at Katsuki’s entrance. “Talk to me.”
“There’s nothing to— shit—” Katsuki’s hips roll back, seeking pressure. “Work’s been fine. Patrol rotation’s the same. Eijirou tried to cook last week and set off the smoke alarm twice. Nothing interesting.”
“You’re interesting,” Izuku says, and he presses his fingers against Katsuki’s entrance, teasing. “What else?”

This is fine, it’ll be fine! He’ll just go up to Kacchan’s bedroom–which he hasn’t stepped foot in since he was five–and tell him dinner is ready. They don’t even have to interact face to face. He can just go up, knock, and run away. Yup, totally cool. Just fine.
Except that wasn’t at all what happened.
After shakily making his way up the stairs (not from fear, but from pushing around appliances on Dagoba Beach all month, really!) Izuku stood frozen outside of Kacchan’s room. (Again, not from fear! He wasn’t scared!) There was a muffled sound coming out from behind the door, like it was trying to get smothered but couldn’t be held back. It was a sound Izuku was intimately familiar with. He was, after all, Aldera’s resident crybaby.
Izuku and Kacchan talk about what happened the day of the Sludge Villain Incident. Then they do a bit of not talking.

"Katsuki looked up to see an all too familiar face hovering over him, eyes wide with worry. It was just Izuku. There was something odd, however.
He wasn't wearing his designated hero suit. He was clad in bits and pieces of Katsuki's hero costume. A large, black and gray gauntlet sat on his left arm. The signature orange belt with grenades was wrapped around his waist, slightly strained because Katsuki was smaller than Izuku in that particular area. The boots, however, were too big it seemed, and the sharp knee pads had clearly been hastily applied.
Izuku was beaten up, obviously having just come from a battle. His chest rose and fell in labored breaths, his hair was messy, and sweat rolled down his forehead. Katsuki had no idea what on earth had prompted him to cobble together this costume instead of wearing his multi-million dollar suit."

He looks down. There at knee-height, is Deku. Not his Deku—not Izuku—but a little kid cosplaying as Deku the Hero. The costume has been lovingly and carefully handmade by one of his parents. He has a little Deku-brand green backpack that's studded with pins from the artists' booths. He's got red sneakers on—fuck, the sneakers, that's so goddamned cute. The kid's eyes are huge and full of tears, and he's doing that thing where he's desperately trying not to cry but can't hide the hitch in his voice or the quivering of his chin.
Hell, he's tugging on Katsuki's scarred heart.
Katsuki squats, so they're eye to teary eye. "What's up, Deku?" he asks. That earns him a small smile.
"I lost my mom," says the boy. He rubs at his face with his hand. "I don't know where she is. But—I'm supposed to find a hero to help me. And I found you!" He brightens. "Will you help me find my mom, Mr. Dynamight?"
Shit, how could he ever say no to that? "Sure thing, kid. Here, take my hand."

Kacchan groaned. "Yeah, I'll do the interview, goddamn. But if they want me to talk for an hour, then they'll get me for an hour, got it?"
An hour of pure, unfiltered Kacchan.
Izuku was sure that they didn't know what they were getting into.

Izuku and Kacchan always do their interviews together, but with Izuku home sick, Kacchan has to weather it alone. Izuku is worried, especially when a rude guest starts needling Kacchan about their relationship.

A flash flood descended upon the rumor mill the moment a clear image of the Symbol of Hope's gloveless left hand was placed next to one of the Symbol of Victory's chest online. When Katsuki shouted, "So fucking what we got married?! Lay off!" at a journalist who'd taken to cornering them immediately post-villain apprehension, a typhoon carried it clean off the hub.
Izuku never blamed people for thinking they were… secret childhood sweethearts, or whatever, seeing as they moved in together immediately after getting their diplomas and turned up hitched six months after that. Were Izuku on the other side of the gossip, he's sure he'd arrive at the same, logical conclusion—but the conclusion he prefers is the one that's true and, by circumstance, is the one that's just for Katsuki and him.

Katsuki and Izuku tie the knot soon after graduating from UA. It's strictly for the legal privileges that come with marriage, but the social game demands to be played, too.

After the war, the world is left to recover, and so are they. Izuku and Katsuki have to face the aftermath of everything they’ve lost, everything they’ve survived, and the bond they’ve spent years avoiding.
