Shane groans at the word lovers, but just continues staring into his husbands eyes. He notices a slight determination in Ilya’s eyes, like he had set a goal for himself in his mind and he was determined to get it. Shane knew this look well, as he has seen it hundreds of times over the years. On and off the ice. This makes Shane’s heart drop and he feels his hands beginning to sweat. Ilya and him have joked about having kids, yeah, but never spoke about anything seriously. Never considered it a possibility until after retirement. Not that Shane remembered, anyway.
“You’re serious…” Shane whispered, eyes darting back and forth between his husband's eyes. Ilya noticed the stern look on his face, not a hint of smile in Shane’s eyes. Ilya forced himself to look away."

Shane had fully intended to argue for the privilege of carrying her out. Then he'd seen Ilya carrying her. And, well…
Watching his husband carry their daughter while looking like someone’s ridiculously hot dad wasn’t exactly suffering. So Shane lingered half a step behind, mostly because he enjoyed the view.
“Stop thirsting over me, Shane,” Ilya said without turning around. “We are in public.”
"What?" Shane blushed. “I'm not.”
The nurse escorting them down the hall let out a laugh.
“I've been married to you long enough,” Ilya said. “I think I can feel when you are undressing me with your eyes.”
“Sorry about him,” Shane said to the nurse.
“You guys are so cute,” she said.
Or Two years after TLG, Shane and Ilya are married, living together, and playing for the same team. Over the next year, they must tackle the biggest challenge they've faced together... parenting.

“Oh!” She exclaimed, setting down her fork. “You have an opinion on the water bottles?” Ilya asked. She looked confused, “What? No, I have a field trip at school!” She had a big smile on her face, one that matched Shane’s.
Ilya was… slow on the come up. “How fun,” Shane replied. “You are going to a field?” Ilya asked. Surely this wasn’t the case. Why was her school taking her to a field? Ilya thought the school they chose was great for Lina, but he was starting to rethink this if they thought his daughter should be visiting a field. Too many bugs, too many itchy weeds.
Lina laughed, “No, Papa. I’m going to the zoo!” Ilya looked more confused at this, “Then why did you call it a ‘field’ trip?”

Or, Ilya has never been on a school sanctioned field trip. Thankfully, their daughter can take a chaperone on hers.
