Summary
So this was the Night Kingdom.
To be completely honest, it looked completely different from what Mualani had expected. She was expecting nothing but a cold, dark void, one in which she wouldn’t be able to see her own hand if she stretched it out before her. And while the Night Kingdom was both of those things, there was light that shone from unknown places, washing the landscape in hues of purple, illuminating the strange, eerie spectres that floated about the Sea of Souls. Even flowers bloomed, and briefly Mualani wondered if she could bring them back as decoration for the shop.
Beside her, Kachina began to stir.
