It all started with an explosion.
In the middle, there was a little girl. She ran and ran, nose bleeding down her shirt, a smiling bunny clutched in her fist. You’d never see her as a killer, all long legs and choppy cerulean hair, big wide eyes usually filled with hope. But not now. You’d see a swirl of dread, anger and regret in her hues, a shell of the girl she was mere moments ago.
She wasn’t sure where she was– she ran to the first place she could think of, the place her family had been robbing just yesterday. They were all gone now.

Vi rolled her eyes as Caitlyn followed her into the bathroom, whirling on her the second the door closed.
“What the fuck is your deal? Thought it might be fun to slum it for the night with the gutter trash who rescued you out there? You’re welcome, by the way.”
“No, I–” Caitlyn made a noise of frustration, face scrunching up, and then she was really fuckin’ close.
Vi held her breath, not wanting to break the weird fucking moment.
“You’re infuriating,” Caitlyn breathed, and Vi tried - and failed - not to shiver when warm breath ghosted over her lips.
“Yeah, well–” Vi started to snark back…and then Vi’s night was officially the weirdest she’d had in a while, because Caitlyn Kiramman, conservative politician’s daughter, was kissing her like she was fucking starving and Vi was an all-you-can-eat buffet in the desert.

She pushed the tears further to the surface as she nodded. "He lost his leg several years ago, my brothers provide for us and I take care of the home"
"Now isn't that beautiful folks? Such a sweet, gentle soul she is" Caesar claimed as the crowd roared while a tear rolled down her cheek.
They mindlessly ate up the story she fed them, the harmless girl from District 7 - who played the violin and smiled like the world wasn't about to end.
Perhaps because, in Johanna's mind, she'd already won.
