The war is still technically on, but no one who lays their eyes on 203 Hill or the rest of the Peninsula has the appetite to follow orders or fight. Ships on both sides ignore one another, their shells aimed not at one another but at the forest of flesh growing from the earth.

There are a lot of infidelities and explicit descriptions interspersed with a small amount of plot. It can be regarded as an urban comedy. Major spoilers alert: they anally enter each other.

“Officer-soldier relationships aren’t the most uncommon... especially in this division.” Ogata explains, as if he’s just telling Kikuta some mundane rifle trivia instead of basically propositioning him. “They're still frowned upon, though, so it wouldn’t look odd if we were secretive about our... encounters.”
Kikuta misses the end of his cigarette about three times before finally managing to light it.
