Summary
Melancholy has a distinct color.
It’s blue, but not a rich blue of that of the deep sea. It’s the color of ice blowing off a glacier at dusk, pale and haunting. It morphs into deep blacks when it touches your fingertips and it swarms around a person like a thick fog, threatening to suffocate whomever its wrapped itself around.
Clarke is familiar. She’s familiar because its become a part of her morning routine: take a shower, apply light mascara, get dressed, and watch as the color of melancholy snakes around her hair, tinting the sharp blonde.
Melancholy has a distinct color, but even more so, it hugs you like a friend and betrays you like an enemy.
~~~
After tragedy alters Clarke’s outlook on life, she turns her back on everything set out before her: medical school, a life of privilege, and most importantly, family. When she rents a room in The Ark – a brewery converted into living spaces – she’s forced out of her comfort zone when surrounded by the tenants who live there.
Particularly a curly-haired brunette with a tendency to combine insults with historical references, intentionally keep her awake, and even most frustrating, make her not stop thinking about him.
What a dick.
Summary
Draco hummed, looking down at her. With the arm looped around her, he fiddled with the green scarf. “And yet she looks better in green than in red.”
Hermione did not blush—she didn’t. It was just… warm. With the scarf and all her hair and Draco’s arm. She looked up at him, and there was one second, a single split second, where it was so easy to forget that this wasn’t what she wished it was. She wasn’t his girlfriend. He wasn’t in love with her the way she was with him. They weren’t anything more than close friends.
Because if they were more, she would easily push up on her toes and kiss him to shut him up. She imagined it. How it would feel, what he might do, if he’d cup her face and pour everything into it. Gods above, she wanted to. But she couldn’t, because they weren’t and because he had a girlfriend.
So she slipped out from his grip, instantly missing the weight of his arm, and shook out her curls. “I’ll support your team during games, Malfoy, but it’s certainly a fact that I look very good in red.”
Summary
“It’ll be a phrase you’d say in bed,” Ginny supplied, grinning. “It has to be something provocative.”
Hermione clicked her tongue. “Be sensible. It will be on my body forever.”
“You can choose the phrase,” Ginny said magnanimously, then tilted her head, considering her. “And where. On your bum might be nice, for instance.”
“I’m not getting my bum tattooed,” Hermione deadpanned, then sighed. “Fine. I’ll think of something.”
“Think fast. We’ll do it first thing this weekend.” Ginny pushed to her feet, plucking up their empty glasses and walking them to the sink.
Summary
The room bursts into catcalls and whoops, but Hermione just blinks down at it. Charcoal? It doesn’t immediately compute.
“You don’t seem surprised,” Malfoy drawls. “Have you been naughty this year, Granger?”
Oh.
Those bastards.
Summary
When he raised said hand to point at the little downward spike on the bottom graph, Granger whipped her attention to him.
“Don’t touch the screen,” she said with a sharp tsk.
He shot her an incredulous look. “I wasn’t going to–” Jesus. He pointedly hovered his finger an appropriate distance from the screen. “This is the dip you noticed?”
She turned back to the monitor, instantly diverted.
