Shane started letting out little sniffs, “I know we’re happy now. But, you weren’t happy once. I don’t like that.” He scrunched Ilya’s shirt in his fingers, “I really don’t like that, Ilya.”
“Shane,” Ilya whispered as tears began landing on his shoulder.
“I don’t like thinking about you missing your birthdays or Christmases,” Shane said. “That’s sad, baby. That’s so sad.”
