Summary
When the Interloper arrived in the solar system, the ghost matter that came from it found its way everywhere. Past the tiniest crevices in a closed room, through the most imperceptible holes in a planet’s surface, into rooms only made accessible through otherwise-inconsequential cracks invisible to the naked eye.
When the Ash Twin Project was built, it was made specifically to withstand any outside force. It was made to circumvent even the tiniest crack, opening, or crevice in its shell, and was tested thoroughly and exhaustively to ensure it.
Or: Every Nomai in the solar system who was hit by the explosion of ghost matter all died at nearly the exact same time. Except one.
