“‘Sup birdie,” he hears. The voice is familiar, raspy and deep, and it makes Keigo freeze, immortalizing the smile on his face as his gaze snaps up and-and. “Long time no see.”

His stomach swoops, pulse stopping completely before his heartrate picks up, thundering hard enough that he can feel it in his feathers.
There, near the ceiling and stuck to the wall, dangling down from a bright red band that’s held up by a nail, is a mistletoe. It’s plush, the green strong even in the dim light, small berries winking at him.
Keigo’s mouth drops open, forming a soundless “oh.”

Keigo, whose head moves back and forth between the two strangers fighting in front of the KFC, shrugs. “I have absolutely no idea.”
The dark haired man turns to the white haired man – Satoru, apparently. His hands are shoved into the pockets of his loose pants, his chin tilted up. “Are you the strongest because you’re Gojō Satoru? Or does being the strongest make you Gojō Satoru?”
“Holy shit.” Touya lets out a quiet snort, and Keigo almost wants to cover his mouth to avoid them being discovered. “Are those guys LARPing?”

Summary
Touya Todoroki has been dead for eight years.
He spent four of those learning the magic they told him was beneath his station, carving containment glyphs into his own flesh to outlast a fire that should have claimed him long ago. He's spent the remaining four bound to a coven. He has a plan. It ends with the fall of a king and, in all likelihood, his own, and he has made his peace.
Then his coven pulls a halfling from a trafficker's carriage, golden-eyed, crimson-winged, too beautiful and too ruined to be anything safe, and Touya makes the grave mistake of caring.
Keigo makes a graver one: he falls for his mark.
