Summary
Former Avenger Leila Whittaker lost everything in the snap–-her chosen family, her reputation, and the love of her life. Three years later, she’s keeping a low profile in New York when Natasha calls her back into the field for some undercover work. Leila finds herself paired with Scott Lang, known to the public as Ant-Man and known to Leila as some guy she met on the Raft six years ago.
This is fine. Leila is content with sticking with what remains of her team, and keeping the rest of the world at arm’s length. Most of them want to be there, now, anyway. And that’s fine.
It’s fine, except that Scott Lang turns out to have a way of getting under her skin, in a way she can’t quite shake off.

Summary
One month after the Battle of New York, Leila's still settling back into her life when Fury gives her an assignment: convince Steve Rogers to allow SHIELD to test him to try to recreate the super-soldier serum. This, however, turns out to be Fury's way of giving her an in for her real mission: convince Steve Rogers to join SHIELD as a special agent.
Leila's no stranger to the art of subtle persuasion, but Steve Rogers is a hard nut to crack, and seems to catch every verbal sleight-of-hand she performs. It turns out, the quickest way to earn his trust is honesty--a different subtle art to which Leila is, actually, a stranger.
(Oh, and also, there's a bomb crisis, because of course there is.)

When Loki attacks a SHIELD facility, taking the tesseract and a few SHIELD agents on his way, Agent Leila Whittaker is sent to recruit a recently-discovered-alive Steve Rogers to help them apprehend Loki and retrieve what was stolen. What's supposed to be a simple in-and-out mission becomes an all-out intergalactic battle, and SHIELD's resident power sponge/ex-crimelord accidentally becomes a superhero in the process.

When superpowered crimelord Leila Whittaker’s dark past suddenly catches up with her, she’s given an easy choice: S.H.I.E.L.D., or prison. Unsurprisingly, she chooses the former.
Little does S.H.I.E.L.D. know, Leila’s not here just to keep her freedom and pay off her debt to society. She has her own reasons for taking up the badge. On her agenda: find a man she’s heard only whispers about, the one who can change her life. Not on her agenda: become a superhero, stop an alien invasion, and fall in love with a costumed war hero.
But you know. Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans. Or whatever.

Summary
When a thirteen-year-old girl claiming to be his daughter asks John Winchester for help, he and Dean arrive in Oregon to investigate. The case goes sour, and Leila Winchester is left with no one else to care for her, leaving John responsible for a deeply traumatized teenager on top of his already struggling sons.
Six years later, Leila is recruited by Clint Barton into SHIELD, shattering her relationships with Dean and John.
And four years after that, the Avengers assemble for the first time, with Leila Winchester right in the middle of it.

This is the first of a series of essays I wish to write on the Gender Politics of Sherlock fandom. There are many things I wanted to say at the official panel but was unable to, since it was derailed by a group of individuals who showed up with the intention of intimidating and harassing the panel moderator. In future essays, I’d like to share my thoughts on femslash, Mary Sues and the fridging of female characters, on heteronormativity in slash, and on queer representation beyond slash (bisexual, pansexual, asexual and trans people in fanworks and fan spaces). I’d like to touch on race and being a queer Woman of Color in a fandom mostly interested in White male characters.
Before I get to those subjects, however, I feel a need to return to the original intended topic: the essay I began writing on my phone on the plane.
And that essay is on the subject of noncon fanworks.
