“Kim,” you say, and he blinks at you in the middle of putting out his hand. “There’s something fucked up going on.”
“You must be from the 41st. I’m Lieutenant Kim Kitsuragi—though you seem to know that already.” He seems tense, for some reason—and his hand is still out. “I’m afraid I wasn’t told who you are.”
“It’s me, Harry! Kim, don’t you remember me? Fuck, there’s something really wrong happening.”
“If you’re referring to the dead body that has been hanging from a tree for seven days—then yes, I agree. It is pretty wrong.” Kim is looking at you with his mouth slightly pursed. There’s no recognition in his eyes—he looks at you like you’re a stranger.
“This can’t be happening." Kim clears his throat.
“You are clearly going through… something. But I would appreciate it if we could focus on the case for the moment.”
“Oh my god,” you say. “We did it already, Kim, but for some reason I’m the only one who remembers! This is some—some cosmic joke from the universe, I’ll tell you that.”
“Okay,” Kim says, slowly. “I’m going to give you a moment while I talk to the manager. You’re going to sit down and sort out whatever it is you’re doing. And then we’re going to take down that corpse.”

Summary
Kim moves to Central Jamrock and transfers to the 41st, partnered with Harry. The two of them are pining for each other, but neither have taken the leap to initiate anything.
For one, Kim is hesitant to involve himself romantically with a coworker. Additionally, he's trans-sexual - and he's not sure he can trust Harry to handle finding out that information about him (Harry not being super queer savvy, and new to his own queerness and all). It feels potentially too emotionally vulnerable on its own, on top of how that could affect his work.
Kim gets the idea that if he can find someone else to date, then he can let Harry down easy - if he's even into him (which, he is) - and avoid a workplace relationship. He decides to place a personal ad at the neighborhood queer club to try out the dating scene again.
Little does he know, the club is nearby Harry's place too - and Shivers and Esprit De Corps let him in on Kim's ad writing. Drama pushes him to respond.

Summary
Kim feels for the Satellite Officer. It’s clear what he’s been through, what Harry has subjected him to over the last few years - Kim only knows the half of it, of course, but he’s seen it before, hermit-cops pushing everyone away, their partner last man standing at the bombsite. Still, it feels cruel to punish this person for it, this wiped-clean, remade Harry, looking at Kim now like a bottle-fed animal about to be released into the wild. If Kim does go to the 41st, navigating all this will be an extra layer of complexity. He should think very carefully about it - about whether it’s worth getting mixed up in all of it. The mess.
A slow-burn, Kim-POV story about going to the 41st, against his better judgement.
