Summary
Juniper Potter wishes her biggest problem was figuring out how to take the transition potion without her uncle's signature – and without him beating her to death. The basilisk biting her in the arm sure seems like a bigger problem, except it turns out to be a solution in disguise. When she collapses on the floor outside Professor Dumbledore's office, it's not because she's dying. It's because she's transforming into a naga. Beautiful, serpentine, very female, and lethal to the Horcrux, which dribbles out of her forehead as black nasty goo. She couldn't be happier except for just one thing: naga are illegal in Britain. She has to flee, or be executed.
But, then, she has a lot more problems to leave behind, and Norway sounds like an absolutely brilliant place to begin her second life.

Summary
Hermione Granger is having a crisis, what with her mother giving her an ultimatum (choose her parents or Hogwarts, basically) and her friendships with her best (read: only) friends faltering at best after months spent not speaking to each other all last term. The last thing she needs is Lilith "Shadow" Gaunt showing up in her life, making it look easy to take all the electives (*without* a time turner), beating her in essays and casting advanced magic like it's nothing. Unfortunately, Gaunt is actually a "temporally displaced" version of Tom Riddle, so someone needs to keep an eye on her, and what are the chances that someone will be anyone other than Hermione?
