“I need to use your shower,” says Bill as he lets himself into the flat.
It is only then that he takes in the sight of the living room – or rather, the lack of sight. The sofa and coffee table have been pushed right up against the TV stand on one wall, and most of the floor space is taken up by a massive standing backdrop, facing toward the window so that all Bill can see is the metal pole holding it up and the glow of sunlight through the off-white material of it.
“Aren’t they meant to have those at the training facility?” comes Elliot’s voice, seconds before the appearance of the man himself, popping his head around the edge of the backdrop to take in the sight of Bill standing there. “Ah,” he says, flicking his eyes down the length of his body and back up again. “Clearly not today.”
“The water’s not working,” says Bill. “Do you mind?”
“Course not,” says Elliot. “Although…” He pauses, dragging his eyes back down Bill’s body again. “How time sensitively do you feel about showering?”

Mr Stirling is drinking again.
This is not, in itself, so unusual. Mr Stirling has always been a man with a fondness for drink, has never shied away from having one or two at the end of a particularly long day. He’s always permitted Anthony the same even, holding out the bottle in a silent offer, though Anthony never says yes. At first he had been worried it was some sort of a test, and by the time that he accepted that it wasn’t, a new problem had arisen – namely, the fact that he did not trust his own impulses around the object of the intense and silent lust that had now consumed him for the better part of a year.
Really, he should have known better. He should have, but he didn’t, and so tonight, Anthony is drinking too.

Summary
Almonds gives Kershaw a proper bollocking on the way back to their camp. Anthony leads the way and has a very pleasant time listening to the two of them behind him, especially the moment where Almonds slips in praise for Anthony himself for his resilience. If Anthony deliberately stands up straighter and sways his hips a bit, that’s between him and God.
Or: After the 2SAS-led mission, Anthony is in pain. Kershaw helps, doesn't he.

Summary
For a split second, Pat thinks Reg might be jealous. He’s always had a quick temper, and Pat remembers well the incident a few months previously when they’d gone out to a gay bar together and Reg had practically dragged Johnny away from the man who was flirting with him and then straight into the bathrooms. They hadn’t returned for nearly twenty minutes, and Eoin had given a very pleased and ruffled looking Johnny such a scornful look when they returned that Pat had only barely fought back a laugh.
Reg doesn’t look angry though. He pauses for a moment to take in the sight of them, and then he hands the glasses of whiskey he carries to Pat and Johnny and returns to the kitchen to get the other two. Pat raises his eyebrows at Johnny questioningly, but Johnny just gives him a mysterious little smile and a shrug.
It’s only a moment before Reg returns again, giving Jim his glass as well before taking a seat in the red velvet armchair by Pat’s end of the couch.
Set about a year after the events of the first fic, can be read as a standalone.

It’s just Joe's luck that he ends up reading the entire damned book in one go. The writing is good enough, he thinks, but mostly what keeps him going is he lived it.
Okay, a lot of it. He didn’t exactly live much, or none at all, of the relentless fucking. The book is from the view of a man who he can hear perfectly despite having not seen in nearly two years; a man who is assuredly not called Palme, nor who got a pass made on him by any sort of Major Summers, nor endlessly pursued a Corporal called Lovegod of all the unoriginal goddamned things.
Joe has work in five hours carting around morons and good working people, and he did not ask to be turned into some kind of fictional sex fiend made-to-measure for David fucking Webster.

Matt finds himself missing the days that when he and Jay fought and Jay got physical with him. He thinks its all for laughs and entertaining himself, except for Jay getting particularly harsh with Matt for the first time in years and the tension that had been building under Matt's skin bubbles over. When he feels struck by his best friend who hit so hard he knows there will be bruises, Matt finds his blood is pumping for reasons more than the sharpness of pain.
-“I’m sorry Jay, could you repeat that? I wasn't listening." Matt wasn't even lying to piss him off, this time.
Jay's eyes went wide with anger and the next thing Matt knew he fell back into the piano bench seat, his face stringing from where Jay had slapped him. Jay, still gripping Matt’s arm, twisting it slightly. Matt felt dizzy as he looked up at Jay, still hardly listening.
Again, he silently begged.
