Summary

When Deku proves he's more than All Might's protegee, Katsuki agrees to one mission with the young hero. He's sure once Deku learns who Katsuki is under the mask, he'll run for the hills.

Summary
Izuku Midoriya stood battered and broken on Katsuki’s pristine balcony. Dust and dried blood falling off him and settling onto the wooden floorboards. He looked defeated, his usual bright green eyes were dull and empty and his signature Hero Deku smile was nowhere in sight.
Katsuki approached him in much the same way you would a skittish cat, slowly and carefully with your hand outstretched and small soothing sounds leaving your lips without you even realising. When Izuku didn’t move away, he wrapped him in a tight hug, holding the back of Izuku’s head firmly with his hand. He tried to push as much comfort as he could into that signal act, hoping that it would comfort Izuku in any way.
“I didn’t know where else to go,” Izuku whispered, collapsing into Katsuki’s arms, his body shaking with sobs wracking his already worn-out body.

Katsuki has always been great at almost anything he does but it turns out, dealing with rejection isn't one of those things.
The rejected offer to join his agency is one thing. But finding out the same night that the person who is most special to him might does not see him the same way? Well, the only way he can think of dealing with that is to throw himself head-first into his hero career and avoid Izuku until he has gotten his shit together and moved on.
Well, of course some stupid villain has to fuck up those plans for him.
OR: Following Izuku's rejection, Katsuki works himself ragged to avoid thinking about Izuku to the point of barely sleeping or resting in between patrols. It takes him almost dying trying to save a little girl for him and Izuku to finally talk about exactly how special they are to each other.
