Summary
Imogen lies on her side, reading (but not really processing,) a book that she has held down on the grass, pages spread open between the thumb and pinky finger of her right hand, the same arm she rests on. A gentle breeze falls through the blades of green and the canopies of dotted trees, almost mimicking the sound of rolling calm waves. Birds call in song to one another as they congregate in the arms of the branches and hop along the fields looking for food. It is what she would assume would be like having a dream (a good one that is, she is familiar with the bad). She cannot concentrate.
She keeps lifting her eyes up to look at Laudna, perfectly flat on her back with her fingers intertwined and hands lying on her stomach as she looks up at the clouds.

“We’re indecent!” she had called to who were certainly employees of The Weary Way checking up on the commotion. It was the first thing that popped into her head, and it seemed to make something click for Imogen who grabbed Dorian — why would she grab Dorian? What made him so special? Why didn’t she grab her? — and opened her vest. Laudna could only stare back in shock before Imogen gave her a loaded look, her words projecting straight into her mind as she deepend the cut of her neckline:
Get them out of here.
She could hear the conversation from the bedroom area as she helped the others down, feeling the bubbling of something deep inside her body. The slow beat of her heart felt immeasurably heavy as she listened to the suggestive comments being thrown between Dorian and Imogen, and she felt a white hot stab of jealousy (jealousy, gods, it feels so immature, but that has to be the feeling) when she turned back and saw Dorian’s hand resting on the small of Imogen’s back as she waved the guards off with a sultry “toodle-oo.”
