Summary
The hours in the days that follow are marked by the sunlight, and then lack thereof. Then sleep. Shower. The periods of travel are divided by the breaks when he becomes too hungry to keep going like a wind-up toy.
He'd thought he would be existing by the established shift rhythm. 8 am, 10 am, 2 pm. Hand-off.
But no. Truly, some sort of string had been cut off, somewhere between taking the bike away from the hospital parking spot and reaching the first hotel. It isn't exactly a relief, even if his body thinks it is.
Robby leaves on his Sabbatical alone, with plans. Except, technically, he's not alone. He just doesn't know it yet. No one does.

Summary
Everyone in the emergency department held their breath as they watched the scene unfold before them.
For more than 2 minutes none of them dared to make a sound, only being interrupted by the constant chiming of machines and rustling of patients across the floor. The tension was palpable, especially between the chief attending of the ED and Gloria Underwood, whose bickering escalated to a full-on discussion in the middle of the department.
None of the ones present could exactly figure out what the dispute was about, but the piercing gazes that Robby and Gloria exchanged were enough to clue in the rest of the staff on just how serious the discussion between them was.

Or Robby and Gloria get into a fight that results in Robby's dismissal as head of the ED. Jack and the rest of the staff try their best to get their cap back on board. -

In the workplace, particularly for those who work at a hospital, a person’s secondary gender has no place. They are supposed to act like they don’t exist, but the system isn’t perfect. Medical students of the same status often butt heads. Some asshole alphas try to act superior.
In order to prevent this, doctors wear scent blockers while on shift. It isn’t foolproof, but it’s vital to ensuring that someone’s presentation or scent doesn’t cause any issues.
Or, Michael Robinavitch and Jack Abbot realize what the other smells like and try to avoid the elephant in the room for as long as possible.
