Fushiguro can't ignore the way Itadori pulls his legs to his chest like he's afraid of taking up space. Not when Itadori always seems unable to sit in chairs normally, sprawling himself across them like a starfish, or hanging upside-down off the back, or rolling across the floor when he's bored and gathering up every speck of dust on his hoodie; not with the way he fits to the contours of the room when he walks inside, his smile expanding like hot air and the couch never big enough for him, some body part dangling off the end no matter how he positions himself.
But then Itadori smiles, and Fushiguro wonders what he was worrying about.

Putting on the kettle for one made him realize that what he wanted was something far less attainable than stones for skipping on the beach or wildflowers creeping between sidewalk cracks. What he wanted, what he didn't find in a cup of oversteeped tea — sat too long, nobody to share it with — was home.
