ooh i rly love this oneshot — mq viewing fx as just a character he’s created (who happens to be exactly everything he’d want in a person) and fx going out there and Blowing MQ’s Whole Mind with his plot revelation abt fu yao.
this is just rly sweet and i know it’s not getting a continuation of anything (and it’s good at it is), but it has so much room for a continuation and mmmmm i love the theory the author mentioned that it’s reincarnation and mq is writing about this stuff to some extent because he remembers it/just some weird fuckery like in orv that enables mq to exist in his own novel without realising it’s himself

It ends like this: Xie Lian’s shackles shatter, Jun Wu screams.
The sound, furious and utterly terrifying, reverberates around them, “How dare you?” He throws a sword to the ground. “How dare you break it?”
The explosion of spiritual energy leaves deep gouges in the walls of the mountain, evidence of its power, of what it took to break it.
Xie Lian’s face hardens behind Hua Cheng’s, and Feng Xin thinks he looks more like the confident crown prince he used to know, always ready for a battle, a challenge. He raises his head to speak when Jun Wu turns, locking eyes with Mu Qing.
“You,” he says, tone sick and disgusting with something akin to an overwhelming fake kindness, “you’ll do.”
or, Feng Xin dies, comes back to life, and wrecks Mu Qing's life (not necessarily in that order)

oh shut up i adore this fic so much and at least it doesnt BREAK MY HEART IN TWO PERMANENTLY (Like another fic by this author…..which i will bookmark one day once i can read it without wanting to cry. Which may be never. But ,)
of course i love all the fxmq adore it to bits literally my favourite always but again. xl3. So tasty. DELICIOUS
ALSO ANOTHER MORE RARE DYNAMIC the huaqing op is so massive brain intellectual because YES! huaqing will be BFFs! they are not immune to being bffs! i slurp up every character dynamic building between these two and this fic provides such good food.
Ok but fr this is one of my fave tgcf fics i gotta go back and leave a comment when i have more than 1/2 a braincell working overtime to coherently write words

i just have a heck of a soft spot for fics where ppl (esp fx) don’t realise how much mq means to them until they (almost) lose him it’s soooo tasty. it’s also why mt. tonglu arc in the novel drives me insane.
mu qing my beloved u are so under appreciated but that WILL CHANGE
heart shattered when feng xin told mq “maybe i shouldn’t have saved u” FENG XIN UR SO STUPID!!!!! and ur about to REALISE it.
also the xl3 scene was so delicious? where fx says how am i meant to live without a limb, without mq? and xl just shoots back ok and how am i meant to live without both my legs? without you two?
idk i think hualian is great and all but i do think xie lian’s attachment to feng xin and mu qing is not understood/appreciated/explored enough in the fandom because fuck if those two aren’t important to him too they were his first and only best friends the two he had when he had both everything and nothing and i refuse to believe that there aren’t parts of his heart that are theirs and theirs alone (reciprocated, ofc) (i mean this platonically but xl3 ships are tasty also)anyway incredibly tasty xl3 content too fxmq are in love xl3 love each other sm and they all live happily ever after ft. hua cheng. theyll be xl4 soon enough once hc learns How to Stop Antagonising ur husbands bffs (he’ll get there one day!) [i will literally never stop pushing the mqhc friendship agenda this is MY post-canon canon]

SHUT UP THIS IS LITERALLY ONE OF MY FAVOURITE FICS OF ALL TIME i could drink up how this author writes the xl3 dynamic.
theyre all so fucking flawed and they all love each other so much and they have such HISTORY and it was never only one person’s fault. how can you love innocently when every single odd is stacked against you. maybe it wasn’t meant to be, now; maybe in time, it will be AND that’s what this fic embodies.
mmmmm thank u author for the tasty feng xin content i love mu qing and xie lian so dearly but fandom rly has not explored fx and his abandonment issues enough he is just a BOY with so much LOVE and LOYALTY to give and so many times he’s just LEFT BEHIND. i love him so dearly. that last festival scene was so beautiful fxmq are a set do not separate XL3 ARE A SET DO NOT SEPARATE
