She rolls onto her side, grateful to see that her alarm won’t go off for another hour. One more blissful hour of much-needed sleep in her bed. But as she shuts her eyes to try to drift back off her lower belly suddenly cramps. It’s abrupt and sharp enough to make her suck in a quick breath of air between her front teeth. Maybe it wasn’t the thunder that woke her after all.
That cramp eases, but a few seconds later another one builds and she curls in on herself. It’s the kind of cramps that you recognize immediately, their cause undeniable. But it’s only when she rolls onto her back, hand cradling her stomach, that she’s suddenly very aware of the damp stickiness between her legs.
Her period. Fuck.
